Digital Scrapbooking Resources

I found all of the frames and embellishments, and most fonts on the photos I post on our blog right here on the world wide web. This is a list of my favorite digi sites...many of which offer Freebies.  I'll update this list as I find new fun digi shops and keep this post as a running resource rather than list all of these fun shops on my sidebar. Feel free to leave your favs in the comments here too.
FYI, I use Adobe Photoshop PS3 to snazzy up my photos.  I'm a greenie for sure, but I'm having fun tinkering and I'm looking forward to seeing my family blog posts in book form via Blurb.

Wanna Favicon?

Martha's is a photo of herself.  Tara Whitney's is my favorite.  BYU's is the "Y".
What will your favicon be?
A favicon is the icon to the left of your blog URL.  Do you want one?  Here are the directions I used to create our blog's favicon.  I don't know if ours works on every browser, but hey, I like seeing our little heart every time I pull up our blog.  Our favicon is the uppercase "O" of the LDJ Flirt font from Lettering Delights.  It's also the font on our header and sidebar labels.  You could say I have a thing for hearts:)  I used photoshop to make a 16x16 pixel jpg, then uploaded it to my flickr account in order to give it a URL.  I used the code editing directions towards the end of this post to put the favicon into action.  It's fun to see more than just Blogger B's:)

Go for it!

Blog Design Tutorials

I've spent way too much time these past couple days sprucing up our family blog.  It's a project that's hard to put down, but it's much more fun than my depressing current read, C.S Lewis,' A Grief Observed.  With blog design, the margins gave me grief (no matter how hard I try I can't escape math), but hey, this is progress, and I'm kind of proud of myself for deviating from my plan of giving this project to Wayne, the resident computer nerd.
I love my nerd!

I used photoshop to make my header (ok, Wayne helped a bit there) as well as all of my sidebar titles and quotes.  I also used tutorials from the blog, Chocolate on my Cranium.  This link is post #7 of 7 tutorials, and it lists links to all of Cocoa's other blog tutorials.  Cocoa does a great job of simplifying code and tricks to make your blog personalized.  So, have fun cracking code and tweaking your bloggity blog.  Just don't ask me to explain what I've been doing on the computer for the past two days.  It's all a blur.

Check out Wiki's color reference for "web safe" colors.  Just pick the colors you want and copy/paste the hex triplet (ex. white is: #ffffff) to various places on your blog html.
My colors are:
Header and main wrapper border: #444499
The blues on the blog#99b6dd
Sidebar text: #999966

All best,
