Sneak peak of our weekend at Uncle Jim's Cabin

From Drop Box

We spent hours & hours in the yard sledding; bum-bruising ice on day 1...crazy, fast, out of control, hilarious rides, followed by 2 days of fresh powdery snow for snow-flying-in-your-face sledding.  We had plenty of face plants, wipe outs, catching air, a run in with a tree, 360's, tandems, crashes, steering gone wrong, running starts, screaming (95% was the fun kind) and lots of laughing.  We sled until we were exhausted and soaked through our snow clothes.  More pics and a family movie to come.

Fun times!

I'm married to MacGyver

Mr. Handsome has been dubbed "MacGyver" by our friends out here.  He can fix nearly anything, and if he doesn't know how to fix it, he usually can figure out how.  A few more memorable examples of my MacGyver in action....
  • Years ago we were visiting the current pres. of BYU-H for interviews at his home in Belmont.  When I came out of my interview, Wayne was fixing their TV.
  • A friend called from Boston saying his car broke down.  Wayne drove out there, put gorilla tape on their radiator hose, followed them home (nearly an hour on the Mass Pike), and then the next day fixed the hose.
  • Has fixed a few snow blowers in a pinch---one time I overheard him trying to guide our friend through troubleshooting, and I thought for sure our friend would electrocute himself in the process.  Wayne ended up going over there and after some tweaking, and a near sonic BOOM, the snow blower was humming.
  • Engineered the belt on our Chrysler minivan to keep from slipping off.  Because of Wayne we were able to hold on to put 230K miles on that car....he did nearly every maintenance and fix himself.
  • After my mad Rock Band drumming skills (which inadvertently broke the drum peddle), Wayne mended the peddle with a metal plate and screws.  It's survived many jam sessions since.
  • Today, I was in the middle of sewing slipcovers when my sewing machine jammed.  Next thing I know Wayne had the sewing machine open for surgery, and was vacuuming, troubleshooting, tweaking, {in his element}....

...and voila, I'm back in business.  Crisis averted.
{Argument for a new sewing machine foiled}

I love my MacGyver.

...and the snow keeps falling.

Like most of MA, Wesley's preschool playground is currently buried in snow.  The play structure roof is in the background.  They'll be having indoor recess for quite a while.
We've had so many snow days that school is extended another week in June.  So, now the kids are over the excitement of snow days and we're hoping we've seen the worst of this winter's weather.  Every time it snows now, Wayne and I look at each other and ask, "Where are we going to put the snow?"  There are multiple 4 story high mountains of snow in the Target parking lot.  ...and we've got many more vulnerable winter weeks ahead of us.

A snapshot on the drive home.... It's actually a little nerve-wracking pulling out of the driveway since the snow blocks any view of the street.
Wes standing in our driveway.  Yes, we are thankful for our snowblower.
Here's to hoping Punxsutawney Phil was right this year.
Bring on an early spring!
