- Years ago we were visiting the current pres. of BYU-H for interviews at his home in Belmont. When I came out of my interview, Wayne was fixing their TV.
- A friend called from Boston saying his car broke down. Wayne drove out there, put gorilla tape on their radiator hose, followed them home (nearly an hour on the Mass Pike), and then the next day fixed the hose.
- Has fixed a few snow blowers in a pinch---one time I overheard him trying to guide our friend through troubleshooting, and I thought for sure our friend would electrocute himself in the process. Wayne ended up going over there and after some tweaking, and a near sonic BOOM, the snow blower was humming.
- Engineered the belt on our Chrysler minivan to keep from slipping off. Because of Wayne we were able to hold on to put 230K miles on that car....he did nearly every maintenance and fix himself.
- After my mad Rock Band drumming skills (which inadvertently broke the drum peddle), Wayne mended the peddle with a metal plate and screws. It's survived many jam sessions since.
- Today, I was in the middle of sewing slipcovers when my sewing machine jammed. Next thing I know Wayne had the sewing machine open for surgery, and was vacuuming, troubleshooting, tweaking, {in his element}....
...and voila, I'm back in business. Crisis averted.
{Argument for a new sewing machine foiled}
I love my MacGyver.

And that did used to be one of his favorite shows
I need one of those!!! We could at least live close by or something!
When he was little (like before kindergarten) I would find him taking apart NEW electronic toys and figuring out how they worked. He always had a drawer of "extra screws" when he put his projects back together - but amazingly they ALL worked. He mind is really a wonderful curiosity.
Lucky YOU! I loved reading the stories, and especially enjoyed your comment about Wayne's "MacGyver" qualities foiling the prospect of getting a new sewing machine. :) We sure miss you guys, but are glad you are not too far away. :)
I remember I called Wayne once when our car broke down. I am horrible when it comes to repairing anything and Randy isn't much better. You are lucky!
