"Salutations!"

It was an extra-ordinary miracle...in just over 2 months time, with most of that time only requiring Saturday rehearsals, our stake put on a wonderful musical, "Charlotte's Web." Christina hesitated to try out, so Wayne offered to try out if she would. He was cast as Fern's father, John Arable, and Christina was cast as a "townsperson/fairgoer/judge." Thomas and Grace participated as well. Thomas was a townsperson/fairgoer, and Grace was Nellie, one of Charlotte's baby spiders that arrives at the end of the show. I took Wesley and Caroline to see the 2pm matinee and we had a ball. There were quilts on the floor in front of the audience, so the little ones could sit front and center and interact with Wilbur and Lurvy. It really was a perfect show for kids and for families.
We loved seeing our 4 stars perform & stretch themselves in developing their talents...they did great & clearly had fun participating. Wayne hit some notes he didn't know he was able to during his 2 solos, Christina came across as a very discerning judge of Wilbur, Thomas obviously had a blast at the fair (& was happy to make a new friend too!), and Grace loved getting her face painted and having a few lines of her own. The little spiders' scene with Wilbur was an adorable way to end the show. I was so impressed with the caliber of performers we have in our stake, the amazing set designed by my friend, Carolyn, and how everyone really gave their best and pulled off a wonderful show for all of us to enjoy. Bravo!

"Do you want to see the miracle?"....

How I wish I could have been there to see it! Good for Christina. It sounds like something my Sid would enjoy but be nervous about. He's already mentioning being a part of the drama group next year--something I am both excited about and leery of, just because he gets so nervous. Sometimes it can be hard to sit back and watch my kids stretch themselves. Maybe I put too much of my own thoughts/feelings into it.

Great job Menzies!

(I'm on my way to the store to buy lemon cake mix and cool whip. I can't wait to give these to my two VT ladies, both having birthdays this week)

Brings back memories of the good 'ole Woodland Hills/Calabasas Ward production days. How great that your stake puts on such things...even if it was a miracle! What fun memories for everyone. LOVE Grace's face paint...and you can tell--so does she!

Wayne - your costume looks the SAME as the one you used in 1982 as "the Cobbler", even down to the suspenders. Wish I could have seen this - looks like fun!

Is Wesley is sporting a new hair cut?

Yes, Wesley just got his hair cut last week...so sad to see the curls grow out!

The cobbler shirt was yellow and they put talcum powder in my hair to give the illusion of age. I also got to wear some sweet specs in that one.

The suspenders are dead ringers though.

I heard it was great! I really wanted to take my kids to see it. We missed out, I can see. Wow - you must have felt proud. It will be a fun memory for all of you to talk about. (And, I do love that song too -- ordinary miracle!)
