So thankful for a wise mother

My dad recently sent a few Relief Society lessons my mom taught back in the early 80's. Without disregarding big and important {to me} things on my plate, perspective is EVERYTHING. This message from my mom was just what I needed to hear this week.

"I believe we can find our steady footing and stilling of the soul by turning away from physical preoccupations, superwoman accomplishments, and endless popularity activities, and returning instead to the wholeness of our soul, that unity in our very being that balances the demanding and inevitable diversity of life."- mom (Chris Ellsworth)

Thanks, mom! I miss you.

Wow. I love that quote. Just yesterday the spirit whispered to me (when I was outside doing yard work, of all things) that my kids would benefit from a DRASTIC reduction of TV in the home. Which I am fine with. Until I heard further whisperings of the spirit that involved ME getting less TV. Which apparently I have a problem with. I never watch it during the day, but by 8:30 when the kids are in bed, Pie and I dip into our Tube Storage (things Tevo'd) and veg out on the couch together. It's one of our favorite things. It used to just be one or two evenings a week, but now it is a solid 5-6 nights a week. I have actually thought of you, dear friend, and said to myself "I bet Becky spends her evenings much more productively". And I know you do.

So. We'll be turning over new leafs here. I'll let you know how it goes.

...and no wonder--she raised almost a dozen kids! You have to focus on the family and not become so preoccupied with those other distractions to such a large degree. Thanks for the reminder:)
