The Camaro has arrived

Earlier this year I had a premonition that Wayne would get his '68 Camaro soon. I laughed it off..."Fat chance," I thought. Well, one of the outcomes of our UT trip, was that it was clear that the Camaro had to come to our house
NOW. Thank you, Kevin for helping us with the initial move to Happy Valley. I'm sure thank you is in order for all of Wayne's siblings who had a hand in sustaining the Camaro's life & for all who stored it from time to time..."Thank you!". Things came together smoothly for transport from Provo to SLC, and then on to Boston. This morning it arrived. It was hilarious to see the kids' reaction.

Christina- I like that crystal thing hanging from the mirror (a prism from the 80's & the only pretty, feminine thing adorning the car- anyone know where it came from?)
Thomas- I'll be sure to have a coin with me whenever I ride in the car, Dad. Wayne: Why? Thomas- For the seatbelt. (I don't know what this means). Wayne: We'll get that fixed, son.
Grace- (in song) We have a broken car! We have a broken car!
Caroline- Wow! It looks like a race car!

Needless to say, this is a big project, but funny thing..."as is" the Camaro is worth more than our other cars combined. It will be fun to see the Camaro evolve into one sweet ride over then next decade. I was sure to snap these initial photos because I have no doubt with Wayne's handiwork (& Mike's help:)), we'll be looking at quite a different Camaro before too long.

For Wayne's family: When you come visit, it's yours to toot around in.

How sweet. I love the different reactions from the kids. I don't even remember this car...but I guess you can say I'm not a car person.

I'm sure that prism was my little touch to the car, but I can't remember where it came from. We all drove it at one point or another, only I had to compete with Wayne for driving time and mostly lost. I remember having to sit cross-legged in the passenger seat on the way to early morning seminary because the radiator fluid would come gushing out and onto my legs and feet. I can't remember when the car ever really worked great, it just looked good until it had one-too-many accidents. I contributed in that department too:) Looks like it will once again be a fun project! I'm glad it made it safe and sound even if it cost an arm & a leg & part of Christina's college fund! (hahaha)

The heater core incident only lasted for a day or two, three tops. Besides, it was only leaking on the passenger side. . .

Jeremy Ockander and I went down to Angels (or maybe it was Ole's, or Builders Emporium, who can tell in this post-Home Depot era)on Ventura) and bought a short length of galvanized pipe and some worm gear clamps. We mickey-moused a bypass of the heater that's lasted 20 years.

Not bad for a couple of 17 year-olds who had to skip first and second period to fix it.

Matt's response was exactly my thought the first time I saw the Camaro. Brett was driving it when we were dating, he thought his mad race-car driving skills in it would impress me. Riiight. And it followed us with our first 3 moves after we got married. I'll be excited to see what diamond is hiding in the rough, glad it finally made it to MA.

Hey Becky, Love the new format. Looks great and so easy to read....wish I could ditch my brown. Maybe another month or two, and then I will have finally had it!

The first thing I thought of was that old movie, Vanishing Point.

...except that car was a Dodge Challenger. Be sure and watch it together!
