Fun finds
Found: One white window. I found this salvaged antique window at a tent sale at The Purple Rose in Northborough, MA. What a fun boutique! I found the ladder I'm using for my nightstand on the left there as well, but back to the window....I love the diamond pane. Ever since my first visit to the Kirtland Temple in OH, I've had a thing for unique window panes. When I spied this particular window, I knew it would be fun to hang over my bed. I cleaned the window up today and voila, it goes with our casual style. The owner of the Purple Rose said she kept a window just like this for herself. At Christmas time she hangs a wreath in front of it....I think I'll do the same. Something I'm keeping my eyes out for now: an old door....check out picture #4 of the main slideshow.
Found: Aqua mason jars. These antique jars are so cool! The lids are glass. My sis, Tal & I spied them at a yard sale along with a stack of glass plates. This was the day after we painted the kitchen green and I knew right where to put the jars. To fill them or not to fill them....I haven't decided. What would you do? The wire shopping bag holds my Aunt Mary's recipe book, a few other mini recipe books, and kitchen appliance manuals. The shelf is a bargain from IKEA, and the wall organizer is from Pottery Barn.

ahhhhh..I feel your excitement! So fun..great finds. Love the ideas. I'd fill three of the jars with a single or double stem for color--yellow or orange would be fun. First put pebbles in the bottem. (I'll email you a pic of what I did on a bigger scale). You could use the others to house things like coookie cutters, buttons, or other collections.
Love the door idea! I'm going to pottery barn OUTLET with Carole tomorrow-WAY excited, although my finds won't be antique and wonderful like yours, I'm sure.
And I think you should do children's art in that big space-I'm lovin' the possibilities! You'll have to post the finished result.
I'm no help, but I love what you've done. Wanna come help me with my house now?
I need to come to your house. I haven't even seen the green kitchen, it looks great. As for your blank wall, I have seen people get a giant cork board and then frame it with crown molding. Then you can hang pictures or art work. With the framed in look it doesn't look quite as cluttered as art work can start to look sometimes.
I like shay's ideas for the jars. I would fill them too.
I love the window over your bed, and the way you have decorated your room!
love the window deal over your bed... very clever. AND my grandma Higginson used those green jars all the time. I expecially remember her pickles in them. Speaking of pickles.. your potato salad recipe has been my favorite (and heavy on the juice for me too) ever since Thomas blessing day in CA all those years ago.
I like the pebbles/single stem idea too. And definitely a children's art wall would be a great idea--I'd like to see what you come up with.
That window is fantastic and I love the paint color with your jars!! Great eye!
