Baking buddies

Christina had such a great time at Activity Days last week. She and her friends brought a favorite recipe w/ copies for everyone. They compiled the recipes in their own little cookbooks and decorated them with fun stamps.  There are lots of pages for them to collect recipes in the future.  The girls were encouraged to bake one of the recipes this week, and Christina has been asking to bake since the night she came home from AD. Yesterday she sold me. She said, "Mom, can I make mint brownies? We already have all of the ingredients!" She was so excited and so sure of herself, and frankly mint brownies sounded really good to me.  So, I gave the green light and left Christina and Caroline to do their thing.  This brownie baking bash was significant because it was the first time mommy didn't help AT ALL.  Grace was napping and when she woke she pitched in licking the bowl.

This morning the kids put a brownie in their school lunches. When I saw the middle of the brownies I laughed out loud. The green mint filling was certainly green....Celtic Green; Wally the Green Monster Green!   The brownies were yummy. It was a boxed brownie mix with filling and frosting from scratch.

That is the cutest picture - your little Grace looks just like you!

You are good to let them cook. My kids always want to and it's not the most fun thing for me...lots of extra time and extra mess...but the brownies look delicious!

This is too cute! Thanks for reminding me that I need to let my Sid do this. He does make a mean Hamburger Helper. Coincidentally, I just made mint brownies last week, fo the first time. Mine was a much more sedate green for the mint part, I like Christina's better! They look like they had a blast.

GO Celtics! I love mint brownies. Mattie loves to help me bake. Today during sacrament mtg she was pretending to read recipes off of the program and bake cakes and brownies.
