Wesley made it through the sacrament today! Progress! He loves the hymn book and shares his booming singing/hollering voice freely. Dear Wesley did have an omelet for breakfast, and some oatmeal just before church, but when he saw the sacrament bread he let out a gasp of excitement and showed the same enthusiasm for the water....enough to make me blush and "Shhh!!!" I love my babe.
In sharing time, Thomas recognized a story that was told about President Monson's life, not from the Friend magazine the teacher was reading from, but from the movie about Pres. Monson's life that they showed between General Conference sessions in October. Sometimes they really ARE listening, and things really ARE sinking in.
When I thanked Thomas for being ready for church early today and noted how that made the morning more peaceful, he smiled, agreed, and said, "You're welcome."....a little positive reinforcement to encourage a pattern of behavior (Please!).
We are nearing the end of the Book of Mormon, and the kids want to read and read and read. Granted tonight wasn't without the, "Hey, I was sitting there!" or "It's my turn to read!", but even with the minor interruptions, we had great conversation about Ether 3, 4, 5 (& part of 6). Grace read chapter 5, which she prefaced by saying, "I feel like singing this chapter." I didn't have a problem with that as long as it wasn't ridiculous, so we listened to Grace's song of Ether 5...unforgettable. We marveled at the 344 day voyage across the ocean, and that the people were thankful throughout the journey. I imagine it was stinky & I hope I would have been so humble, (even among the bees).

oh! Grace is so cute! I wish I was there to hear her sing chapter 5. and congrats on a smooth sunday! Having the kids get ready before letting them go online sounds like a winner.
a little iphone action in sac-mtg???! Vivs is the same way with the hymnbook- gotta love those victorious days NOT roaming the halls during sacrament!
Congratulations on a successful Sunday! Randy is the Branch Pres. so I have a tiny idea of what it's like to face church on your own (even though I only have 2 kids). It takes work and preparation, especially when the power goes out at our house like it did all day Sunday. Thanks for the tip about the website!
I snapped the photo before sacrament started. As soon as we got there Wesley was gearing up for the opening hymn with his nose in the hymn book like this, so I just had to snap a photo, but hey it's for postertity;)....family history.
& Mel, are you still Primary Pres? You guys are amazing!
Thanks for the reminder about the Friend's online site. I had forgotten about it. Congrats on making it through sacrament meeting. That's always a huge accomplishment!
I had a wonderful Sunday too! I thought the talks were incredible. I was really thinking how much I enjoyed sitting in the chapel yesterday when it occured to me: Tommy (and Pie) were home being sick.
Ooh, thanks so much for the heads up on the interactive page! I've been looking on and off for a "Sunday" computer game forever. This will guarantee my nap each week, er, I mean, help with the kids planning family night. Ha! As usual, you impress.
Amy, Wes made it through the sacrament portion of sacrament...the day he makes it through all of sacrament meeting I'm making a cake!
You are such an example and inspiration to me! And dear, dear Grace. When I next read Ether 5, I will sing it :) ... think it will be as cute... ya, maybe not!
So, if I give Wes some Benadryl before church. . .
CAKE TIME!!!
Yeah for Wesley! I went to the Friend online to show Mattie this past week and she loved it too!
Thanks for the link! I'm going to use it in the morning. Then they'll think I'm really nice because I'm letting them have 'computer time'!
