Christina- She started a new middle school this year...larger and newer. She packed her backpack (had to take an extra bag with supplies for the classroom) and most of her lunch last night. She was up before 6am and before her alarm went off. Nina inherited a promptness gene from my gpa. She suffers from anxiety if she runs late. So, she's up with the sun and enjoys not being in a rush to get ready and be on time for school. I drove her to school today and just for fun I offered to walk her in. She looked at me like I was crazy. Yep, those days are long gone for her.
Christina's after school report: "I love my homeroom teacher! I like love my team." She was a few minutes late to Chinese because she had a hard time finding the class, and she ran 3/4 of the way home with a bleeding toe, but other than that it was a breeze.
Thomas- He's got a little sister in the same school now, and the protector and leader in him is showing. Thomas has offered much comfort and reassurance to Grace..."You'll love 1st grade! You'll love Miss D!" Thomas was sad to see summer vacation come to an end, but excited to be in the upper grade at his school and to reconnect with school pals.
Thomas' after school report: "School was awesome! I have art on Mondays again....I glanced out the window once and saw Grace doing the monkey bars."
Grace- She's going to a new school and has had a case of nerves/excitement for several days. At Sunday's Open House she was happy to see her friends from K had cubbies and desks close to hers. She's hoping to make new friends too...not a problem for Grace. This a.m., Grace said, "My tummy feels funny." Wayne gave the kids father's blessings, and Grace was happily eager to get hers; sweet faith. We went outside for pics and she was all smiles. We blew kisses as she hopped in daddy's car and was off to school with her big brother. K is 1/2 day here, so a full day at 1st grade turned out to be tiring ("boring" according to Grace). She called her friend Josh after school to see how his 1st day went and after she hung up she said, "I feel better now." 1st grade IS much different than Kindergarten and nowadays it's not as "fun," but I predict once she gets used to the schedule and routine, Grace will enjoy school more.
Grace's after school report: "I just kind of liked it. I thought it was boring....I made a new friend named Miles and he said he wants to marry me." ...not the report I expected!
I made the kids apple dumplings a la mode to snack on when they got home for their 1st day of school special treat. Fruit, dairy, fiber...it's all good!

Those pictures are pricesless! Sounds like it was a great day. Josh loved talking to Grace he thought that was pretty cool.
So sweet. Funny that Christina is in Chinese too! Sid is up for another year...
Glad to hear they all had a good (if boring) start.
Christina & Bray are from the same mold....anxiety-stricken when late or when things aren't just 'so.' Why is she going to a new middle school? That's so funny about Grace. I'm sure she was front and center on her first day getting to know everyone! I bet you love it that Thomas is at the same school as Grace & can be her big bro' guardian. Chinese???!!! Who knew! We don't get to take language until 8th grade here..lame.
I love the pictures and the way they arranged them is fabulous.
Great pictures! Sounds like the first day of school was an adventure for everyone. The school district here started over a week ago, seemed kinda early to me.
Glad to hear that the first day went well for the kids. Grace is so funny. I love how honest she is! Apple dumplings are YUM!
Glad the kids are getting back into the groove of school! Sounds like the beginning of a great year!
