Amazing Grace

Yesterday I found myself laying next to Grace in her bed comforting her after her bike accident.  She sliced her chin pretty good, but it was a Super Glue job rather than stitches.

I held her hand and watched in amazement as she laid there calm and still while Wayne cleaned her cut and glued her back together.  I thought of all that Grace has been through from birth and how really this was nothing compared to previous experience, but also that all of her trials had indeed made her strong.
We told Grace to lay still and not move her chin or mouth.  I laid down next to her and shared my thoughts.  I reminded Grace how Heavenly Father has looked after her from birth.  She has always been blessed with excellent care.  In this instance it was mommy and daddy (expert Super Gluers:)) working together, but at times renowned cardiac surgeons and skilled nurses, phenomenal cardiologists, etc.  She has been spared and cared for and she loves life, even at her tender age.  The miracles surrounding her first few days of life seem to be appreciated not only by those of us who could recognize prayers being answered, but also by Grace's spirit.    As I spoke to Grace she started to cry and said, "Can I talk tomorrow?"  Don't hold this girl back!  She is amazing.

Back up to earlier this spring.  As soon as the weather started warming up Grace decided that she wanted the training wheels off of her bike.  Christina and Wayne helped her a few times and then viola, Grace was cruising on her 2-wheeler, and by cruising I mean flying down the street.  Her drive is something to behold.  I love her.  We  all love our Grace.

Seems like Waynerd did that a few times too! You go, grace girl! I think we need these fighting spirits in our families not only to combat their medical issues and fight to survivie, but to combat the realities and world of today. I too am grateful for my fighting spirits! I love it that Grace is calm and collected though:)

I did the exact same thing when I was little and still have the scar on my chin to prove it! It hasn't hindered my speech at all ;)
